Two of Three from Baltimore, Not Bad
By mvyb, 09.08.2006, 10:15

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with stuff here on Yankee Mania, but I've been on the road for a while.

During that time, the Yankees won two of three games against the O's and lost the series opener against the ChiSox. Abreu and Giambi (who left the game last night due to an injured left elbow) have been hitting the ball well. Cano made his return last night, and gathered 3 hits.

Mo blew the lead in the bottom of the ninth ( very depressing) and Proctor gave the ballgame away in the 11th. The Yanks had a lot of op[portunities to win this game, but failed to take advantage of them.

Thankfully the Red Sox lost too ( to the Royals!), and have lost 5 out of their last 8 games.

Hey Zach! This is Pete... Been awhile!

I know this blog of yours is strictly for baseball, but I tagged you to do a survey, and I don't know any other way to get ahold of you... :)

Yah, there are times where I love to rant against the Yankees. Damon takes very unusual routes to fly balls. He often gets turned around. I don't think he is one of the ten best defensive centerfielders in baseball. Andruw Jones, Torii Hunter, Mike Cameron, Corey Patterson, Gary Matthews Jr., Vernon Wells, Brian Anderson, Joey Gathright, Aaron Rowand, and Jim Edmonds are all better.

The Yankee Hater!

DP... take it easy there.  I know you HATE the Yanks, but maybe you could cut them a bit of slack. They are the second best team in baseball this year...

Damon hasn't been as bad as you think- he's tracked down fly balls that most other outfielders couldn't. I think he saves more runs that way ( catching tough flyballs) then his terrible throwing arm gives away.

Did anyone else see that so-called throw that Damon delivered to the plate on Dye's single? That was pathetic. Damon has never had a decent arm, and he is probably playing out of position. I remember when he was on the BoSox and David Newhan of Baltimore hit an inside-the-park homer. Damon had to hit two cut-off men to get the ball to the plate, and one was Manny Ramirez.

My point is that Damon is overrated in the field, and he lost the game. People will say A-Rod missing the pop was the game, but it wasn't. Rodriguez covered an unbelievable amount of ground. Yankee fans: stop jumping on A-Rod, and jump on the real problem. That means Damon, the bullpen, and the starting rotation.
