Yanks Sweep Jays, Climb on Top of Division
By mvyb, 04.08.2006, 13:09

Cory Lidle went way past expectations, yesterday, as he pitched 6 solid innings. He allowed only one run on a handful of hits... his offspeed stuff was brilliant. Abreu continues to fit in perfectly with the Yanks ( three hits and a couple of runs scored) as does Craig Wilson ( a two-run single). During this series, the Yanks batted a combined .303 with 20 runs scored ( and only 4 runs allowed). They pretty much eliminated the Jays postseason hopes, and took the top spot in the AL East.
Tonight, Johnson faces the O's in Baltimore....if he can come back from his last rough start, I think it's safe to say that the Yankees have the best starting rotation in baseball ( after Detroit).
1. Mussina- candidate for the Cy Young award
2. Chien-Ming Wang- more then the Yanks could have hoped for
3. Randy Johnson- still has a bit left ion the tank
4. Jaret Wright- has pitched better then you realized ( leads the majors in fewest homers allowed)
5. Cory Lidle- impressive debut
With the ruthless offense, strong bullpen, and acceptable defense- the Yanks are easily one of the best teams in baseball.

Wright has given up the fewest homers because he's been hurt. Lidle made a nice debut, but so did Shawn Chacon last year. Johnson's era is over 5, he got beaten up by my ORIOLES last night. No way this is a great rotation. Wang is the only one who can go nine innings.

The Angels are better. John Lackey, Ervin Santana, and Jared Weaver are better than anyone the Yankees have on their staff. Kelvim Escobar is a good four. That is a great rotation without ace Bartolo Colon.

Yankee hater status coming out.

PS, right now the O's have one-hit the Yanks through eight innings.

You're one game ahead. I'm not happy.
