Yankee Mania

Derek Jeter
Hey! My name is Zachary and this is my site, Yankee Mania, where I explore the games, players, and transactions of the greatest team in baseball. Hated by some but loved by others, the New York Yankees have dominated the world of sports for over a century. This year I follow their noble quest to win yet another World Series Championship. Wright Solid in Debut, A-Rod Hits Home Run #8
By mvyb, 11:13

               Indians 3, Yankees 10
W- Wright (1-0)
L- Westbrook (0-2)
Hafner: 2-4, HR (2)
Blake: 2-4, 2B, R
New York
Rodriguez: 2-5, HR (8), 3RBI
Posada: 1-3, HR (2), sac fly, 3RBI
Chase Wright battled the weather and his own jitters all night, but managed to pitch five effective innings against the Cleveland Indians. Wright allowed only three earned runs, but threw 104 pitches in five innings. The Yanks had to be pleased with what they saw from Wright, and I'm pretty sure he'll make a few more starts for the team before heading back to AA.

Meanwhile, the Yankee bats crushed Jake Westbrook as they roughed him up for eight earned runs. Alex Rodriguez hit his league-leading 8th home run and drove in 3 RBIs. Jorge Posada (who is off to a fabulous start this season) also homered and drove in 3 runs. Posada is on pace for 150+ RBI and 25+ homers. Doug Mientkiewicz also hit one out (gasp!), his first homer as a Yankee.
The 10-3 win was a great way to start off this rough 6-game stretch. New York hopes to win the series against Cleveland tonight in an Igawa v. Sowers matchup.
The Yanks better bring their bats.
Player of the Game:
Alex Rodriguez
- 2-5, RBI single, 2-run HR (8)
