Yankee Mania

Welcome!
Derek Jeter
Hey! My name is Zachary and this is my site, Yankee Mania, where I explore the games, players, and transactions of the greatest team in baseball. Hated by some but loved by others, the New York Yankees have dominated the world of sports for over a century. This year I follow their noble quest to win yet another World Series Championship. Notable Yankees:
-
SS- Jeter, 2-4 ( 2B, 2B, R, 3 RBI)
DH- Giambi, 2-4 (1B, 1B, 2R, 2RBI)
RF- Williams, 2-4 ( 2B, 2B, R, 3 RBI)
1B- Phillips, 2-4 ( 2B, BB, R, 4 RBI, 2-run HR [6] )
CF- Crosby, 1-2 ( solo HR [1] )
P- Mussina: 6IP, 3ER, 3R, 8H, 5K

It's absolutely fun to watch Mussina pitch- he's like an artist, moving his pitches around like a paintbrush. Although this wasn't his best game, Mussina was pretty darn good. He got through 6 innings ( 95 pitches), giving up only 3 runs. He really only made one mistake, a fastball right down the middle to Jim Thome. The pitch ended landed in the upper deck in right field. Proctor, Myers, and Villone were also excellent, shutting out the ChiSox through the final three innings.

Looking at the final score, you can see that there was a lot of offense from the Yankee lineup ( and bench players).  Jeter and Williams both had two doubles and three RBIs. Jeter now has 55 RBIs on the year, and is headed for his first 100+ RBI season. Giambi singled home a pair of runs in the 4th. Rodriguez also brought in a runner. Bubba Crosby, who came in for Johnny Damon in the 7th, hit his first homer of the year. Andy Phillips also homered, and drove in four runs. Sheesh...

The Yanks needed Mussina to be consistent, and he has been, all year.

Boston, here we come.

Yankee Player of the Game: Andy Phillips
